Luther S. Dixon

Luther S. Dixon was Chief Justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court.[1]

Biography

Dixon was born Luther Swift Dixon on June 17, 1825 in Milton, Vermont.[2] He moved to Portage, Wisconsin in 1851. Dixon passed away on December 6, 1891 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Career

Dixon was appointed a judge of the Wisconsin Circuit Court in 1858. Previously, he was District Attorney of Columbia County, Wisconsin. In 1859, he was appointed Chief Justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court by Alexander Randall. He held the position until 1874.
